Second overtime of the week and this time Calvin Christian came up two points short falling 59 - 57 to Godwin Heights. Calvin Christian battled back from a 11 - 2 first quarter deficit and took a 17 -13 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was back and forth with Calvin Christian leading by two at half. The lead was three heading into the fourth and with Calvin Christian down one in the last 20 seconds, Karsen Balmer (17 Pts) made one of two free throws to tie the game. Addy Rhodes (9 points) almost got off a buzzer beater layup to win the game but the clock ran out.  Macy Verbeek had 17 points to go along with Balmer as leading scorers. Rhodes (9), Leila Nelson finished with  8, while Grace Walcott, Claire Boomstra and Ashley Houtsma each had 2.

Overall a few missed opportunities, too many turnovers, allowing too many offensive rebounds and missed free throws (9/24) were just too much to overcome. The Squires (12 - 6 overall, 6 -4 conference) never stopped fighting and will now need to regroup for two tough road contests this week at Comstock Park on Tuesday at 7 and at Sparta at 6 on Friday.
